Overview The Department of OBGYN at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding Medical Assistan t to join the team. This position is responsible for front and back office procedures. This position also assists Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with medical examination of patients. Responsibilities: - Takes vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure and enters into EHR. May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN. - Reviews intake forms with the MD/NP/PA when needed to determine what services best suit the patient. - Manages specimens that are being picked up and drop off. - Chaperones when appropriate and assists during certain minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures (such as Hysteroscopies). - Maintains a clean and sterile environment in the examination rooms and triage area. Ensuring all rooms are stocked with medical supplies, as well as, clean and sterilized instruments. Dispose of contaminated supplies and medical instruments.
