Job description

A Steam Engineer is responsible for the operation of high-pressure boilers, large steam engines and boilers, air compressors, turbines (except generating turbines), ventilating and refrigerating equipment, generators and other related equipment commonly found in an industrial plant power house. Work requires practical skill and knowledge and journey-level skill as a Steam Engineer. Work may require interpreting specifications, blueprints, manufacturers' manuals, sketches or similar documents. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) - City of Detroit 1st Class Boiler Operator License - City of Detroit 1st Class Refrigeration License - Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as required - Working knowledge of basic algebra concepts and principles sufficient to understand and apply basic trade formulas. - A minimum of four (4) years of combined experience and training as a Steam Engineer or a documented and verified U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Steam Engineer, including at least four (4) years' operating centralized st...
