Job description

The Equipment Operator position involves the operation of heavy equipment in support of landfill operations. Key Responsibilities: Adhere to and enforce health and safety policies and procedures, use proper personal protective equipment and other safety equipment. Ensures compliance with WCB safety procedures. Operate heavy equipment regularly including: Landfill Compactor. Dozer. Excavator. Dump Truck. Roll-off Truck. Interact with the customers (public and contract haulers) delivering material, other staff, service providers, etc. in a courteous and professional manner. Shape landfill cells and add daily cover according to sequencing plans and as directed. Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily. Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily. Steer, guide and/or drive the above listed equipment using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons and pedals. Clean trash and mud from tracks of heavy equipment at least once daily or more frequently if needed. Use a two-way radio to communicate with co-workers in the field and or office regarding work activities, requirements, and priorities for the work day. Maintain appearance of the grounds a...
