Job description

In collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures, the CRNA has a strong focus on safe patient care and upholds the mission of the Connecticut Children’s. Cultivates a patient centric environment which focuses on the whole individual inclusive of physical, psychosocial, spiritual and functional needs of the patient, family, and significant others. Serves as the focal professional for the continuity of care in patient care within scope of practice standards, as well as specialty specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise. Depending on clinical needs, the position may be required to work night and weekend shifts. Selects and/or administers pre-anesthetic medications. - Assess and evaluate all patients according to their specific age development stage and diagnosis. - Recommends, requests, and evaluates pertinent diagnostic studies and documents pre-anesthetic evaluation. - Educate patients about surgery, recovery and obtains informed consent for anesthesia. - Prepares operating room; sets up and checks anesthesia machine, supplies, medications and gases.
