Job description

PURPOSE: Utilizing welding expertise, maintain mining equipment (haul trucks, loaders, dozers & other ancillary equipment) for open pit copper mining operations Utilizes blueprints and sketches to layout, fabricate, construct or repair piping, ductwork, steel structures and plant equipment by cutting, welding, riveting and assembling ferrous and nonferrous plate, heavy sheet metal and structural shapes in both field and shop areas. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Journeyman level Welder position: - Mig, Tig, GSMA, SMAW, FCAW , oxygen-acetylene cutting systems, and plasma torch systems. - Ability to read prints, layout and fabricate, work from verbal communication - Able to operate metal fabrication equipment (shears, rolls, brakes, punch, saw, etc.) - Able to pass Company welding test - Ability and willing to work rotating shifts and rotating days off, if required - Able to plan work to be performed by interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, work orders and verbal instructions. - Able to make materials, supplies and tools list for the assigned work. - Able to carry material and equipment to be used on the job. - Ability to make simple and complex layouts for cutting, welding, shearing, p...
