Hiring Rate $57,750 IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY A CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER, APPLY TO FIREFIGHTER RECRUIT: Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to prevent, suppress and extinguish fires and to perform other related firefighting activities. Incumbents in this classification have successfully completed training at the fire academy. This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County’s Drug & Alcohol Policy. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Responds to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, explosions, bomb threats, downed power lines, and other emergency situations; responds to instructions from dispatcher; and contacts appropriate related agencies as needed.
