Job Description: Positions in this classification perform technical inspection and engineering support work in the Department of Public Works. Work involves applying engineering procedures to inspect road and street construction work, residential lot grading work, and utility work for compliance with plans and specifications, including erosion and sediment control requirements. The position requires prior experience in engineering inspection activities. The Public Works Inspector I will handle a heavy volume of customer complaints. Work is performed under technical supervision. Public Works Inspector I position reports to the Project Management Division Chief. Essential Job Functions: Inspects and certifies subdivision street construction with County Public Works Agreements to ensure compliance with County road ordinance. Inspects residential construction sites for compliance with an engineer’s approved site plan. Inspects the final stabilization of a lot. Inspects previously installed stormwater management devices on an annual basis to ensure compliance with state and local ordinances.
