DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Director of Physical Medicine - The occupational therapist treats patients referred for occupational therapy, according to the occupational therapy plan of care; contributes to the development of the department. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description. - Assesses the functional needs of the patient and sets appropriate goals for that patient. - Provides direct patient care; evaluates outcomes; and consults with other specialists, as needed. - Provides vocational training as appropriate for patient's potential skill level. - Provides patient/family with options for adaptive equipment. - Oversees the care of all assigned patients and all care givers rendering such care, including support staff, volunteers and students. - Promotes independence for Activities of Daily Living tasks.
