Description The Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University is seeking applicants at all ranks in the area of digital circuits, though we may also consider strong applicants with expertise in robotics, AI/ML, and other areas of computer engineering. Specific research areas of interest include VLSI, ASIC, integrated circuits, mixed analog and digital circuits, and system/network on a chip. Problems may include high-performance computing, energy-efficient computing and processors, AI/ML accelerators including edge computing hardware, reconfigurable computing, biomedical circuits, hardware security, neuromorphic computing including in/near memory computing, electronic design automation, and HW/SW co-design. Research problems may overlap other focus areas within the department, such as communications (e.g. cognitive radio systems, MIMO systems on chip, RF circuit design for 5G/6G, satellite communications hardware, THz communication circuits), power (low power interfaces, power electronics, wireless power transfer), and photonics (optical devices and circuits, optical processor for AI).
