Overview The Salt Lake County Extension Summer Garden Intern is responsible for supporting the Salt Lake County 4-H Garden program at the Bastian Agricultural Center in South Jordan, Utah. Program Overview: The Salt Lake County 4-H Junior Master Gardener program offers hands-on and experiential lessons in all areas of garden and plant science for youth, including basic botany, planting, disease and pest maintenance, pollination and support of pollinators, beekeeping, harvesting and food preservation techniques. Our main garden at the Bastian Agricultural Center is home to 50+ different varieties of fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers. Youth learn both traditional as well as regenerative growing methods. We aim to not only inspire youth to grow their own food, but also to explore potential leadership and career pathways within the plant science, food science or gardening field. As part of USU Extension, the Summer Garden Intern will intern and network with the 4-H Program Coordinator as well as different extension professionals within the Salt Lake County office.
