General Summary: - The Nursing Shift Manager (NSM) is a professional Registered Nurse who assumes management responsibility for the Unit during a shift. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Follows established hospital policy regarding patient safety measures such as infection prevention, safe patient handling and movement, critical lab notification, etc. to ensure that patient care is provided in an optimally safe environment. Monitors staff compliance with safety measures. Coaches/counsels assigned staff members on safety standards. Maintains and cares for central lines and prevents surgical site infections per policy. - Provides quality nursing care including administration of medications, nursing intervention, and patient and family teaching.
