Position Summary Oncology dietitians are essential members of cancer centers because they identify and treat malnutrition and nutrition related symptoms early, tailor oral/enteral/parenteral plans and help patients complete cancer therapies with fewer complications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Develop and implement nutrition services for cancer patients undergoing active treatment in an outpatient setting. Provide medical nutrition therapy including individualized nutrition assessments, counseling, and oral and written nutrition recommendations based on patients’ specific therapies and nutrition needs. Provide monthly nutrition classes for patients and caregivers. Provide education for staff addressing nutrition topics and research pertinent to cancer patients. Develop nutrition education and resource materials as needed. Collaborate with providers and staff to ensure the nutrition screening mechanism is consistently identifying patients at risk.
