About UMass Amherst UMass Amherst, the Commonwealth's flagship campus, is a nationally ranked public research university offering a full range of undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. About the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences offers the BS, MA, AuD and PhD degrees. Both the MA and AuD programs are CAA-accredited and student stipends are available from federal training and research grants. The Department currently has 20 full-time faculty members (including research, clinical, and teaching positions) and is located within the School of Public Health and Health Sciences on the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst campus.
