Position Summary Assist physician in providing specific treatments and procedures, and facilitating, and efficient patient care. Perform administrative duties as assigned by physician. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. - Manages patient preparation by assisting physicians and/or registered nurses by taking and recording patient histories, height, weight, vital signs. - Prepares patient for examination by preparing for various specimen collections. - Administers oral and injectable (intramuscular and subcutaneous) as prescribed by the physician. Competency must be demonstrated to a registered nurse prior to performing such function. Has Knowledge of medication actions, proper dosing & side effects. - Assists physicians with minor procedures. Proficient with sterile technique. - Explains tests and procedures including pre & post-op instructions to patients. - Retrieves lab results and surgical path reports from computer (as well as reference labs) and communicates results/ data to physician and/or registered nurse.
