Job description

Orion Marine Group has an immediate opening for Riggers , in Tampa , FL . This position is accountable for providing support to craft workers at marine project locations for Orion Marine Construction, Inc. Incumbents are responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of Crane Operators, Pile Drivers, Welders, Carpenters and other skilled workers. Typically, they will also work closely with a Barge Foreman, Crane Operator, Boat Captain and other site field personnel. Specific Responsibilities: - Works as assigned by the Barge Foreman to ensure the successful completion of on-going or new marine construction projects. - Signals or verbally directs operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials. - Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability. - Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools. - Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules. - Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment. - Signals operators of con...
