Job description

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Corps Officers, drives Salvation Army owned vehicle loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve general operation of corps. Driving Responsibilities (30%) Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or delivery merchandise to customers. Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location. Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption. Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations and other trash items. Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers. Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space. Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use. Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur. Lifts and stacks donations in the truck; unloads/loads the truck. Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
