Title: John Marshall Fellow State Role Title: John Marshall Fellow Hiring Range: $115,000: Pay Band: UG: Agency: Attorney General & Dept of Law Location: Office of the Attorney General Agency Website: https://www.oag.state.va.us/: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties: Under the general direction of the Solicitor General, a John Marshall Fellow is responsible for representing the interests of the Commonwealth in federal and state courts, including high-profile matters of national and statewide importance. This position is responsible for handling appellate litigation, including preparing briefs and presenting oral arguments. - Drafts appellate briefs in state and federal court; - Revises legal briefs drafted by other attorneys to ensure high-quality written advocacy; - Presents oral arguments, primarily in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Supreme Court of Virginia; - Recommends to the Solicitor General whether the Commonwealth should draft or join amicus briefs with other state Attorneys General on issues of mutual interest; - Consults with the Solicitor General and others within the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) and the executive branch of the...
