Job description

A scientific research specialist CL1 position is available in the Henry/Barrick labs. In the Henry Lab the specialist will support research studying molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuromuscular degeneration in zebrafish models of muscular dystrophies. The successful candidate will utilize cutting-edge genetic, molecular, and imaging approaches to investigate disease pathogenesis. In the Barrick lab, the specialist will support research studying the cellular mechanisms of cardiomyopathy in a human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte model. The successful candidate will use confocal microscopy to image live cardiomyocytes and apply image analysis tools to quantify the impact of disease-associated mutations on cellular properties such as contractility. Full-time, regular position, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Normal daily work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position pays $19.61/hour, or applicable transfer rate in accordance with the ACSUM collective bargaining agreement.
