Job description
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is critical for patient care across the ambulatory and inpatient settings within the Department of Neurosurgery & Brain Repair. APRNs have independent clinic sessions during the week in order to see pre-operative; post-operative; and established patients to ensure high-quality patient care across the continuum of care. APRNs support specific neurosurgeons during their clinic sessions that allow for additional patients to be scheduled within their templates. APRNs manage hospital care of neurosurgery patients according to the protocols established with the neurosurgeons and their hospital. APRN's may assist neurosurgeons in Operating Room. Manages hospital care of neurosurgery patients according to protocol established with neurosurgeons and their hospital. Observes, evaluates, and documents patient's physical, cognitive and emotional reactions in appropriate medical records systems. Prepares patients for discharge, which includes prescriptions and follow-up instructions and completion of Discharge Summaries.
