Job description

Power System Coordinator (Transmission System Operator) – MCC This position holds primary responsibility for the safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Power Transmission System at Mississippi Power (MPC). This includes real time monitoring, operation, and control of the system. Responsibilities include: - Minute-to-minute monitoring and control of the bulk electric power system under normal system conditions. - Analysis and evaluation of the system, determination of restoration actions and implementation of those actions under abnormal system conditions. - Writing and executing switching orders, including directing field employees performing switching operations. - Monitor real-time and perform future studies for N-1 contingency solutions. - The ability to remain current in understanding and implementation of all NERC compliance standards. Education Requirements: - A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is desirable (not required) and may be considered in lieu of experience. - A thorough understanding of the operation of an electric system is necessary.
