In Hamilton County, 8.1 babies died for every 1,000 who were born from 2017-2021. That’s a dramatic improvement from where we have been in the past, but our work is far from complete. Queens Village was founded as a program within Cradle Cincinnati in 2019 because we believe that Black women hold the key to reducing the racial disparity found in infant mortality rate in Cincinnati. Queens Village accomplishes our work by listening to black women, ensuring that black women hold positions of power, and creating space for Black women to rest, relax, and repower.
