Job Summary: The Nurse Extern (PCA) performs age-specific (young adult, middle adult, later adult) and developmentally appropriate patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) preceptor in the fast paced environment; performs only those duties/skills previously learned in nursing school with proof of competency; follows Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta (LLUMC – Murrieta) policies, protocols, techniques, and guidelines designated by the Board of Registered Nurses for work-study courses. Assists RN preceptor in performing the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) in a dynamic environment and in accordance with LLUMC-Murrieta's established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support as needed. Maintains open communication with RN preceptor, takes directions well and follows through with assignments.
