About the unit 3 North is a 27-bed Medical Progressive Care Unit, offering 3:1 or 4:1 nurse to patient ratio, based on patient acuity. This unit is designed to care for the neuro, medical, and surgical patient requiring a higher level of care. This specific patient population may also require frequent assessments and monitoring related to health state. Cardiac and pulse oximetry monitoring is done at bedside with a central monitoring system at the nurse station. Registered Nurses, Nurse Techs, Nursing Assistants, and Ward Secretaries comprise the staffing mix of this fast-paced unit.
