Tasks: Your role as a Research Software Engineer As a Research Software Engineer, you will be part of the team that focuses on building GIS applications and data pipelines. We use GIS data to generate simulation models for our hydrological calculation cores for surface water and groundwater. We use well-known Python libraries such as GDAL, Numpy, (Geo)Pandas, and XArray. You will work closely with hydrologists and engineers to improve our research tools and deliver software that meets both technical and business needs. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop and maintain Python applications and tools used for hydrological research. - Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and translate complex research models and algorithms into functional software. - Monitoring software quality with unit tests, code reviews, and the consistent application of development best practices. - Manage GIS data in the cloud with automated pipelines.
