Job Type; Per Diem Shift: Nights: Reporting to the Nursing Director, this position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality, individualized patient care using the components of the nursing process. On-call required; when on-call must arrive to the Hospital within 30 minutes . 1. Performs duties in a manner that provides for the psychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Completes all assessments in a timely manner. Incorporates age-specific considerations, including functional and developmental age, into the care of the neonate (0 to 30 days), adolescent (12 to 17 years) and adult (18 to 70 years) patients. 2. Effectively manages pain control in the laboring patient by (1) assisting the anesthesiologist with epidural catheter placement and (2) monitoring fetal and maternal status during catheter placement and after medication administration, medicating to appropriate pain scale. 3. Provides patient education related to infant security measures during hospitalization, such placement of infant security device on the neonate. 4.
