Description Welders accomplish production welding aboard ship vessels and badges by applying appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other “weldable materials”. - Duties and responsibilities - Cuts and prepares parts using band saw and plasma torch. - Must meet company quality, attendance, and productivity requirements. - Must perform duties in compliance with all safety rules and regulations required by the - Company, State, Federal and Local provisions. - Prepares parts and fixtures for scheduled job. - Operates hand grinders as needed. - Visually inspects work and parts fit up on an on-going basis. - Responsible for the care of the welding machines and any company owned equipment - that is used during the repair process. - Installs or repairs equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings. - Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. - Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions Requirements: Welders work as part of a team and must follow safe work practices to minimize the risk of danger to themselves and others.
