About the unit The Gerber OB unit is a private-room, mother–baby centered unit providing care across labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum. The unit includes 7 private patient rooms , a 3‑bed triage area , a short-term observation room , and a dedicated surgical suite for C‑sections . Nurses care for one laboring patient at a time , transitioning to one nurse for every two mother–baby couplets postpartum. Triage is typically staffed by one to two nurses. The unit supports day and night shifts and offers a collaborative environment focused on safe, individualized care for mothers and babies.
