Description Tenured, Associate or Full Professor of Sociology College of Arts and Sciences: American University The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenured position beginning August 1, 2017. Depending on qualifications, the appointment will be made at the associate or full professor level. The appointee will also serve as Director of the Center on Health, Risk and Society, based in the sociology department. Candidates should be committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarly research. We seek applications from candidates engaged in high-quality scholarship in the social dimensions of health, with additional expertise in other areas that complement the strengths of the department, including globalization, urban communities or urban development, and/ or social inequalities related to race, class, gender, ethnicity or sexuality. Candidates should be able to teach courses in health as well as in other areas of interest.
