The Parks and Recreation Department has an opportunity for one skilled, self-motivated individual who has a passion for horticulture operations. The primary role for this position focuses on watering hanging Baskets, planters, parklets and other areas with a large water truck from June to end of September. As a Horticulture Operations Labourer, additional duties may include assisting the Operation Crews in planting and maintaining shrubs, perennials and annuals; cutting and maintaining lawns and grounds; assisting in the renovation and maintenance of various landscaped, horticultural areas and greenhouse operations. Schedule may be adjusted due to operational requirement or budgetary constraints. If you have the following qualifications and attributes, we want to hear from you! · Completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent), preferably supplemented by technical training and courses related to the work. · Diploma in Horticulture, or a combination of related training and experience is an asset · Irrigation and or greenhouse experience will be an asset. · Experience/competence navigating city streets in a large truck outfitted with a water tank and or trailer. · Skill and knowledge of the m...
