Description The University Honors Program and the Writing and Reasoning Program at SMU seek a full-time lecturer to teach Honors composition, critical reasoning, and other Honors courses as needed. The position is non-tenure track, but renewable in three year contracts. The initial appointment is for one year. The University Honors Program (UHP) prepares undergraduate students for their future by emphasizing a broad-based education in the humanities and sciences, and fosters a culture of intellectual curiosity. The courses taught are designed to help students develop strong writing and critical reasoning skills. There are two sequential courses (WRTR 2305, fall--and WRTR 2306, spring) taken during the first year at SMU, as well as the second year humanities seminar (UHP 3300), and a limited number of general education courses. Each lecturer will be asked to teach Honors WRTR courses primarily, with the occasional assignment to teach one of the other Honors courses.
