Job Description The Department of Mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Mathematics starting September 1, 2026. The research area of interest is in applied mathematics with a preferred emphasis in Theoretical and Computational Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, and/or Mathematical Molecular Biology. We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests which promote synergy and collaboration with the current department and college faculty. Although we are primarily interested in hiring an applied mathematician with one of the above specializations, exceptional candidates from other areas are encouraged to apply. The mathematics department is part of the College of Science and Mathematics which encompasses six departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics, and includes interdisciplinary PhD programs providing a rich environment for research mentoring and collaboration.
