Role Overview Westpac's Marketing & Communications Domain is seeking a technically proficient and solution oriented Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate to design, build, and optimise digital integration components within our enterprise ecosystem. You’ll play a critical role in defining API first solutions, contributing to event driven architecture (Kafka), and guiding the development teams to build scalable, secure, and observable components. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build backend and integration solutions using Java (8/11/17), Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA - Define and deliver REST APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI, aligned with enterprise integration standards - Develop microservices and reusable components for data ingestion, orchestration, and downstream delivery - Own API and Kafka integrations, including topic design, schemas, consumers, and resilient pub/sub patterns - Ensure strong non‑functional requirements (performance, scalability, reliability) with observability via Splunk - Provide technical leadership, mentoring engineers and contributing to solution design, governance, and delivery assurance Required Skills & Attributes: - Strong h...
