Title: Science Laboratory Technician Institution: Volunteer State Community College: Campus Location: VSCC-Cookeville Center/VSCC-Livingston Center: Job Summary: The Science Laboratory Technician will be responsible for overseeing and assisting with laboratory setups, maintenance of equipment, ordering supplies, and other duties as assigned. Duties may include preparing specimens, media and equipment, making chemical solutions, and breaking down labs when they are complete. This position requires a high degree of autonomy and self-motivation without constant direct supervision. Job Duties: Prepare supplies and setup for science department laboratory courses. Prepare lab kits for courses that require them. Periodically verify that lab experiments are working properly and take corrective action as needed. Troubleshoot problems and answer questions as they arise. Independently ensure prep areas and labs are well organized, clean, and secure. Wash glassware and other equipment and return to stock.
