Job description

Overview Performs technical duties and limited professional duties, under the supervision of attending pharmacist, involving compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by physicians or other qualified prescribers. The pharmacy intern will practice only within the scope of a valid intern classification from the state board of pharmacy and will assist with pharmacy duties while being responsible for learning the systems and the ability to manage them properly by the time the intern is licensed. Responsibilities: - The pharmacy intern will assist with and be responsible for learning: - The unit dose distribution system, intravenous admixture service and aseptic technique. - Procedures for merchandise and inventory control, and financial management including participation in economical use of supplies, products and resources. - Monitoring of patient medication therapy. - Quality control procedures involved in intravenous admixture and unit dose medications. - Departmental interactions with administration, nursing, and ancillary staff. - Provide clinical drug information to meet the needs of the physician, nurse and patient. - Interpretation of medication orders, scheduling me...
