Job Details With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Certified Wound Continence and Ostomy Nurse uses the nursing process in ways that values the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. The Certified Wound Continence and Ostomy Nurse is a registered nurse with certification in this specialty (CWON or CWOCN). He/she functions independently and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide specialized care for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence concerns in the acute care setting. The Certified Wound Continence and Ostomy Nurse influences patient care both directly, through the provision of hands-on care, and indirectly, by serving as an educator, consultant, researcher, or administrator guiding the provision of optimal patient care to patients with wound, ostomy, or continence concerns.
