DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Sterile Processing Manager - Responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of a variety of surgical instruments, hospital trays and individual items used at the main campus and the Women's campus. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description. - Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment. Assembles , wraps, and sterilizes trays of instruments. - Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment. - Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, trays and medical equipment and makes them available to sterile processing customers in a timely manner. - Restocks, labels and maintains inventory; submits requisitions. - Collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts and facility medical equipment. - Performs environmental maintenance duties and assist...
