Job Summary The Vocational Specialist is responsible for developing, leading, instructing and motivating youth in the areas of vocational trades and life skills. The Vocational Specialist oversees activities that lead to development of skills as well as healthy choice of leisure activities such as animal care, woodworking, making crafts, and life skills such as budgeting and money management. Essential Job functions: - Ensure that youth have activities that are fun, challenging and educational. - Utilize a relationship-based approach to engage youth in vocational and recreational activities with which they may be unfamiliar to support developing competencies. - Complete a required life skills assessment for each youth such as the Casey Life Skills and provide results to the treatment team upon youth admission to the program. - Support the 4H Coordinator with 4H projects. - Assist staff with care of the animals as needed. - Teach youth responsible and safe handling of basic tools. - Complete paperwork as designated by agency and funders. - Manage projects from planning through execution. - Assist youth with their application for the campus Apprenticeship Program and/or employment in...
