Responsibilities: Operates ultrasound scanning equipment to produce records of designated portions of the human anatomy of infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications. Explains procedure and positions patient. Selects proper technical factors and performs high quality diagnostic ultrasound. Observes image and modifies technical factors as necessary to obtain optimal image. May freeze and print frame. Reviews record to ensure correct anatomy is visualized. May assist physician with biopsy and aspiration procedures, practicing sterile technique as required.
