Position Purpose: The Sr. Data Scientist is responsible for leading data science initiatives that drive business profitability, efficiencies and customer value by supporting the data science and analytical needs of THD’s Cost Finance Team. This role assists in the development of the Home Depot advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI infrastructure that informs cost mitigation and strategic sourcing decisions. Sr. Data Scientists are expected to seek out business opportunities to leverage data science to improve the company’s cost position and profitability. Based on the specific data science team, this role would need to be an expert in data science methods such as data engineering, pipeline development and maintenance, machine learning, and artificial intelligence as well as fluent in cost finance concepts. As a Sr. Data Scientist, you will serve as a lead on data science projects, collaborating with finance managers and finance leadership, providing prioritization of tasks, balancing workload and mentoring data scientists on the project team.
