Vacuum Cast Operator

Job description

Overview Responsible for operating a variety of equipment to support the production in a safe manner. Responsibilities: - Perform charge preparation and melt operations - Set up and operate vacuum cast furnaces to make a variety of castings to very close tolerances. Select, insert, position, check sizes and secure dies and cores as necessary. Mount, secure, clean and spray molds. Slag off and pour metal at proper temperature - Heats up ovens and loads molds in preparation for pouring verifying molds to the casting schedule, loading position, and verifies oven temperature - Responsible for adherence to melt and casting process through controls, measuring, documentation, offer recommendation for process improvements - Maintains casting log - Participate in teams to improve all aspects of casting production - Maintain clean, orderly, safe facilities - Prepare and send metal samples to lab for analysis. Calculate and adjust, weighing addictions to heats, as required to bring chemistry to specified levels.
