Overview The American Enterprise Institute seeks an intern for the Coalition Defense of Taiwan who will conduct research in support of scholar Dan Blumenthal and others. The team’s portfolio focuses on US defense policy and security issues in the Indo-Pacific, including China’s military modernization, US allies’ interests and objectives, and cross-Strait relations. Key responsibilities include: - Monitoring political and military developments in the region, - Researching historical and contemporary events, - Examining key aspects of modern warfighting in recent conflicts, - Compiling sources in English and Chinese, and - Collecting and organizing data. The ideal candidate will possess: Candidates who can participate in the program in person for 25–40 hours per week are encouraged to apply. - A demonstrated interest in policy issues around cross-Strait relations and Asian security challenges, - Research experience in defense studies or related internship experience, - Close attention to detail, - The ability to work independently, - Mandarin Chinese language skills (highly desired, but not required), - A positive attitude, and - Excellent interpersonal skills.
