Department Gastro PBB - 209589 Worker Sub Type Regular Work Shift Pay Grade: Job Description: The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for surgical scheduling for department providers, oversight and coordination of block time, and working with operating room (OR) schedulers to optimize provider OR time and schedules. The Surgical Scheduler reports to the Manager, Physician Practice. Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for scheduling surgical cases according to scheduling guidelines and current block schedule using faxes, emails, telephone and other incoming communication mechanisms as appropriate. Responsible for obtaining insurance authorizations, including providing pre-registration, verifying insurance and ensuring preauthorization requirements have been met from all potential payor sources. Performs outgoing calls to patients and physician offices regarding reschedules and cancelations. Cross-references patient and department information for multiple procedures to improve patient flow and minimize risk of clinical contradictions.
