Description SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Associate Vice President, Controller, the Assistant Controller will help transform workflows and business processes for a better user experience, accuracy and access to information, and financial efficiency. Essential functions of the role include but are not limited to general accounting, financial reporting, tax and compliance reporting, payroll oversight as well as project accounting. This role is based primarily on campus. Qualifications: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Responsibilities include all general accounting processes, financial close, internal, and external reporting, audit, tax, and compliance filings. Manage monthly closing processes, fixed assets and capital project accounting, debt, and tax and compliance filings. - Supervision of team members and serve as a mentor in accounting principles and processes, and as a resource to the CalArts community. - Serve as a leader for the annual audits (financial statements, Uniform Guidance, etc.) and manage the preparation of supporting materials. - Evaluate, implement, and supervise monthly and quarterly closing processes.
