Overview The Department of Otolaryngology at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking an outstanding Medical Receptionist to join the team. This position is responsible for working directly with our Otolaryngology patients and the referring providers. This position is responsible for ensuring appropriate referral information is received, scheduling patients for new patient appointments and follow ups, and completing correspondence to the referring provider’s office. This position is also responsible for checking in/out patients, answering the telephone, scanning pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record, and verifying patient insurance information. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times. Responsibilities: - Open and close office. - Schedule patient appointments, call patients to remind and confirm appointments, reschedule patients from reschedule list, and make sure providers and residents schedules are full. - Check patients in and out, collect copays, balances, self-pay, and cosmetic fees at time of service and record payments in Epic. - Update patient’s insurance and demographic information in the EHR. - A...
