Job description

The Applied Materials Division, Process R&D and Scale up Group at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral candidate to conduct general research in material science and electrochemistry related to next generation cathode material synthesis for lithium-ion and sodium batteries. The selected individual will work under supervision and will assist the Lead PI on developing experimental methods and techniques to synthesize these new materials. The candidate needs to be familiar with electrochemical testing and evaluating these materials. Position Requirements: Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (typically completed within the last 0-5 years) in material science or related chemistry science with 0 to 1 year of post-graduate experience. Knowledge in the areas of materials science, metallurgical and ceramic engineering including hands-on, practical laboratory experience with material synthesis and processing, and analytical methods. Hands-on experience: XRD & Refinement, SEM-EDX, TGA-MS, DSC, BET, coin-cell preparation and testing. Knowledge in electrochemical analysis techniques such as GC, CV, GITT and EIS.
