Job description

Overview The Supv Histopathology is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the histopathology laboratory. The lab performs various techniques involved in the preparation of tissue specimens for examination by the pathologist and subsequent molecular genetic testing. Responsibilities may include sample accessioning, re-embedding, microtomy, hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, immunohistochemical (IHC) staining, macrodissection of tumor tissue and digital pathology. In addition, they will be involved with training as part of the Histotechnology OTJ training program, quality control, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. The Supervisor will be under the general direction of the Laboratory Manager and/or Director of Laboratory Operations. The Supervisor shall be on the laboratory premises during all hours in which laboratory procedures are performed or be available by telephone or electronic means.
