GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under direction of the Division Manager – Solid Waste; supervise and oversee daily operations of the Roll-off, Commercial, and metal Container Maintenance sections. Oversee the collection and disposal of refuse material in limited residential, commercial and industrial areas. Manage collection routes, maintenance schedules, and site plan approvals for the safe collection of solid waste routes. Resolve customer complaints and represent the division on Site & Plat Review committees. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct supervision over assigned refuse collection personnel. IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Supervise and designate work to assigned personnel through three (3) subordinate crew chiefs tasked with performing commercial waste collection. Assist in designing collection routes; evaluate collection crew performance and workload; make recommendations and prepare reports. Inspect refuse collection routes and conditions of containers; answer customer complaints; check for customer adherence to collection procedures and requirements; identify defective refuse containers and other conditions that prevent successful waste collection.
