The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, family-entered care to pediatric patients with an average length of stay of 24–72 hours in a mixed‑acuity critical care environment. The PICU primarily cares for children with acute respiratory compromise, including conditions such as RSV, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, and severe asthma exacerbations requiring high‑flow oxygen therapy, noninvasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP), or mechanical ventilation.
