Job Title: Medical Assistant Department: Neuro Location: 181 Maple St, Massena, NY 13662 Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: 8:00am-4:00pm SUMMARY: The medical assistant performs a mixture of both clerical administrative medical assisting, as well as clinical medical office assisting in Primary and/or Specialty care settings. The Certified Medical Assistant works in collaboration with licensed physicians and mid-level providers (NP/PA’s), and reports to a Physician Practice Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES: Receives patients and their families and directs them to the appropriate place. Answers telephones promptly and politely. Schedules appointments: Files pertinent information within patient’s records Obtains insurance prior authorizations: Inputs charges on patient accounts: Verifies patient insurance upon registration: Billing: Obtains & documents vital signs on patients Acts as a chaperone for the provider when needed Obtains & document patient weights: Assist physician with minor procedures such as suture removal PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent 6 months of clinical experience as a nursing assistant or related field Ability to file and retrieve patient records.
