Cisco Data and Wireless Network Engineer Description: This position has primary responsibility for operational support, project implementation (lifecycle and additions), automation, and documentation for wired data and wireless network infrastructure within Southern Company and associated subsidiaries. Supported technologies include, but are not limited to, firewalls, routing and switching, wireless, and network security services. Location: Strong preference for the Birmingham metro area; Atlanta will also be considered. Occasional travel to project locations as required. Major Responsibilities: - Implement and expand automation to optimize operational efficiency, streamline day ‑ to ‑ day activities, and improve error detection. - Responsible for engineering project implementation and day-to-day operations for the network infrastructure including Cisco data communications equipment; routers, switches, wireless LAN, voice gateways, and others. - Applies strong knowledge of data communications principles, architectures, and protocols including TCP/IP, routing, switching, WAN, LAN, and Ethernet technologies to implement efficient network configurations. - Support network vulnerabilit...
